Anzac Cove which was only a landing place for Anzacs became a vital point for the distribution of the food, ammunition, soldiers. Soon, a hospital and administration buildings and buildings for the storage of food and ammunition were constructed in this narrow cove. Four piers for the ships and huge cauldrons for boiling the water were also added. Today, we have no traces of these above mentioned buildings, piers and caldrons. Moreover, the erosion diminished the width of the Anzac Cove from 25 meters to 10 meters. Because of the proximity to the front, Anzac Cove was under the direct fire. In despite of this feature, Anzac Cove continued to be the most popular dispact point till end of the war. Anzac Cove, where thousands of soldiers were killed, witnessed a sad evacuation of Anzac soldiers who used every kind of device to deceive Turkish soldiers on the night of 19th of December. Although this bay was called Anzak Cove during the campaign, the name was officially given in 1985.
