EMIRGAN

Emirgan is named after a Persian Prince Emirgune who surrendered the fortress of Erivan without a fight and became close friend of Sultan Murad IV during his conquest of Persia. He was rewarded with a palace, located in this area. The town square is pleasantly shaded by the plane trees under which people taste the famous tea of Emirgan. A Baroque mosque which was built by Sultan Abdulhamid I between 1781 and 1782 is situated on the Emigan square. Above the village, former tulip gardens of Emirgan where a number of attractive pavilions recently restored by Touring and Automobile Club are located.

Istinye

Istinye is the largest bay and safest harbor after the Golden Horn along the shores of Bosphorus. Up to 1990s this deeply indented bay contained a floating dock. Istinye is still a colorful fishing village where local fisherman sell day daily catch at their colorful fish market.

Said Halim Pasa yalisi

This beautiful summer mansion which was built by architect Petraki Adamanti was named after Said Halim pasa, the Grandson of Governor of Egypt, Mehmet Ali pasa. This famous building which contained great collection of antiques and valuable items was badly damaged due to a great fire in 1995.

Yenikoy

Although the town houses great number of historical structures, It was called as "New Town" in both Byzantine and Turkish times. There are Greek Orthodox, Armenian Catholic and Roman Catholic Churches at Yenikoy. Town is famous because of its terraced houses facing to Bosphorus. Two of the impressive structures are Austrian and German consulates.
