Naval Museum

Naval museum which was first established in Kasimpasa was transferred to Dolmabahce and then to present day buildings. The museum houses great collection of items related to the Naval History of Ottoman empire and young Turkish Republic. It displays the uniforms of Turkish sailors, the models of battleships, drawing, engravings, document and pictures related to Naval History of the empire. 

Most important item in the collection is a chart depicting the Atlantic coast of south America drawn in the 16th century by a famous Turkish navigator, Piri Reis. Also an amazing collection of rowing barges used by the Sultans when they moved at Bosphorus are displayed in a separate part of the museum.
