BERGAMA

Bergama, the hometown of great number of historical rugs, is located 20 km from the Aegean coastline. It has been a great center for the geometric patterned rugs from 15th century on. The carpets known as Transilvanian carpets and dated to 17th and 18 centuries are thought to have come from Bergama. In our day, Pergamon rugs are examined in two major categories: Bergama rugs having Turkish designs and Bergamas with Caucasus patterns.

KIZ BERGAMA

This name is used for conventionaly for the wedding rugs which are presented to groom the night of wedding.

YAGCIBEDIR RUGS

Yagccbedir rugs from Bergama region are easily distinguished fro the other area rugs because of their designs, colours, high quality. Red and blue are popular colours of the area. Eight pointed stars, birds, seven band borders are often seen on these carpets. Because of quality of the wool and great density of knots, Yagccbedir rugs are considered one of the finest rugs of Anatolia.

These rugs are named Bedir who was a seller of butler and he persuaded the people of the region to weave very fine rugs with good wool and high density of knots.
