IN
THE STEPS OF SAINT PAUL 14 days
Day 1.ISTANBUL-ANKARA
Arrive to Istanbul and take a short connecting flight to Ankara, the capital of
modern Turkey. Transfer to Hotel by the private motorcoach.
Day 2: ANKARA-CAPPADOCIA
Morning visit the highlights of Ankara: The Museum of Anatolian Civilisation,
old city and Mausoleum of Kemal Atat rk, the founder of modern Turkey. After
lunch continue to Cappadocia by travelling along the shores of great Salt Lake.
Dinner and overnight in Nevsehir.
DAY 3: CAPPADOCIA
ull day excursion into the magical landscape of Cappadocia's rock hills and
valleys. Dominated by Mt. Argeus, Cappadocia, offers the most amazing rock
formations and magnificent rock churches and monasteries dating to Byzantine
Period. Visit Goreme Open air museum, Zelve rock cut city. Dinner and overnight
at Dedeman Hotel in NevIehir.
AY 4 CAPPADOCIA- ADANA
Morning visit underground city of Kaymakl , used by the early Christians to
escape from the persecutions. On the way to South visit a caravanserai
where voyageurs of ancient times stayed. Pass through the famous Cilician gates
of the Taurus Mountains and arrive to Adana. Dinner and overnight at Seyhan
Hotel in Adana.
AY 5: ANTAKYA -ADANA
Early morning drive to Antioch, the headquarters of Paul s missionary journeys.
Visit impressive Mosaic Museum and Cave of Saint Peter where early
Christians met. Drive to Seleucia from where Paul sailed to Cyprus. Drive
to Adana, Dinner and Overnight in Seyhan Otel in Adana.
DAY 6: ADANA-ICONIUM KONYA
Morning departure for Tarsus where Saint Paul was born. Brief visit of the town:
Cleopatra Gate and Saint Paul s well. Drive along the Mediterranean coastline .
Passing the towns of Pompeipolis, Corycos, Silifke. On the way to Konya, visit
Derbe and Lystra, two cities visited by Paul during his missionary trips. Dinner
and overnight at Konya D ndar Hotel.
DAY 7 KONYA -PISIDIAN ANTIOCH-PAMUKKALE
Morning sightseeing of Konya. Visit the Mausoleum and Museum of
Mevlana, the founder of the order of Whirling Dervishes. Proceed to Pisidian
Antioch (Yalvac ) where Paul desides to turn to Gentiles. Drive by Egridir
Lake and arrive to Pamukkale, one of the natural wonders of Turkey. Enjoy
the pools and thermal water. Dinner and overnight in Colossea Hotel.
AY8.HIEROPOLIS-LAODICIA MILETOS-KU ADASI
isit the ancient city of Hieropolis where Saint Philip was martyred.
After enjoying attractive formations and travertine pools
created by the thermal water, continue to Laodicia, one of the Seven
churches. Visit Miletos where Paul was during his third missionary trip. Visit
also the Temple of Apollo, one of the famous oracle temples of the antiquity.
Dinner and Overnight in Korumar Hotel at Kusadas .
AY 9. EPHESUS-IZMIR
ull day excursion to Ephesus where Paul stayed nearly 3 years. Visited by Paul
several times, addressed by John as one of the seven churches, Ephesus is
considered as the most preserved archaeological sites in Turkey ,
and it was the site of the Artemis Temple, one of the Seven Wonders of the
World. Tour of Ephesus including Temple of Artemis, Basilica of Saint John
and Ephusus Museum at Sel uk. Dinner and overnight in Izmir
Hilton.
DAY 10. AKHISAR-SARDIS- PHILEDELPHIA-IZMIR
eparture for Thyatira, one of the Seven Churches of the Revelation and
hometown of Lydia whom Paul met in Phillippi. Then continue to
to Sardis, the capital city of Lydian Kingdom and famous King Croisus.
Excavated by American archaeologist, Sardis houses Artemis Temple, one
of the greatest temples of Antiquity; the Gymnasium -Synagogue complex.
After Sardis visit Philadelphia, the city of brotherly love. Return to Izmir.
Dinner and overnight in Izmir Hilton.
DAY 11. IZMIR-PERGAMON-ISTANBUL
fter visiting ancient Agora of Smyrna (Izmir) drive to Pergamon, the
capital city of Pergamon Kingdom which ruled over Anatolia after Alexander the
Great. Addressed by Saint John, Pergamon was site of famous Pergamon library and
great healing centre dedicated to Asclepios. Drive to Izmir and flight to
Istanbul. Dinner and overnight in Hilton Hotel.
DAY 12. Visit the historical marvels of Istanbul: Saint
Sophia, Blue Mosques, Topkap Palace and Archaeological Museum. Dinner and
overnight in the Hilton Hotel.
ay 13. Cruse the Bosphorous with a private boat and lunch at
a typical fish restaurant . Enjoy the Grand Baazar in the afternoon.
DAY 14. Return flight to USA,
