       7 CHURCHES OF ASIA MINOR
( 6 NIGHTS / 7 DAYS )

 

Day 1 : IZMIR via ISTANBUL
Flight to Izmir, Smyrna via Istanbul.  Meet and transfer you to the hotel. Have your evening at leisure.

Day 2 : IZMIR
Drive to Bergama, Pergamum where the Satan’s Throne was. Visiting the Asclepion, the earliest health center of Asia Minor. Scroll at the Pergamum Acropolis and visit the Archeological Museum. After lunch continue to Akhisar, Thyatira which was smallest of the Seven Churches. Lydia the seller of purple cloth in Philippi was originaly from Thyatira.

Day 3: IZMIR - HIERAPOLIS
Morning visit Sardes, the Dying church and the capital of Lydia where King Croesus ruled. Alexander camped here before he headed east. Proceed to Alasehir, Philadelphia. In the city of "brotherly love" see the ancient city wall. Continue to Hierapolis for the night.

Day 4: HIERAPOLIS - IZMIR
After a visit to Hierapolis ruins and St. Philip`s martyrdom, drive to Loadicea. The church at Laodicea was an extension church of the church aat Ephesus, as were the churches of Hierapolis and Colosea. Continue on to Ephesus, the most evocative ancient port city. The impressive church of Virgin Mary, site of Council of Ephesus can still be visited. Here at the great Amphitheatre the rioters against St. Paul cried "Great is the Diana of Ephesians". After strolling in Ephesus return to Izmir, Smyrna for the night.

Day 5: IZMIR - ISTANBUL
Morning flight to Istanbul. On arrival tour of the city including visits to Hagia Sophia, Church built by the emperor Justinian in the sixth century. Visit the Blue Mosque and the Hippodrome where chariot races were held in Roman times. Tour the Topkapi Palace museum with its priceless jeweled objects and the Porcelain Collection. Stay the night.

Day 6: ISTANBUL
Morning visit the church of St. Savior in Chora, a beautiful Byzantine church decorated with magnificent mosaics and frescoes. Cruise by boat along the Bosphorus. Lunch in a seafood restaurant. End the day in Grand Bazaar. Stay the night.

Day 7 : DEPARTURE
Transfer to the airport for departure flight to home.
