SHRAPNEL VALLEY

This valley which was the main transportation and supply road to Nek was called Shrapnel valley by the Australians and The Valley of Fear to the Turks.

The cemetery, which is located at the lower end of the Valley, is one of the most beautiful of the Gallipoli Peninsula and it covers an area of 2836 m2 area. This is the burial ground of 527 Australian, 28 British and 72 soldiers of unknown troops. The cemetery which was formed during the Gallipoli Campaign became larger with the addition of the independent graves in 1919.
