A short distance fron Ciragan Palace is the Yildiz Imperial gardens and palaces used by the Royal family in the 19th century is situated. Most of the buildings of Yildiz Palace were contructed by Sultan Abdulhamid II who wanted to built a more isolated and protected new palace for himself. This is a great complex of palaces, administrative structures located in the beatiful imperial gardens covering nearly 500 000 square meters. From the documents of the time, we know a lot of architects were involved at the contruction work. But major construction and repair work was carried by Sarkis Balyan between 1876 and 1881during the reign of Abdulhamid II. One of the Yildiz Palace pavilions draw our atention because of the historical significance. This was Sale Pavillion where German Emperor Wilhem II stayed during his offical visits to Istanbul.
